How long does it take to write a proposal/grant application?
There are a lot of variables that go into writing a proposal or grant application. The actual grant writing process often takes 2-4 weeks, not including background research. Here are some critical questions that affect the process:

• Is your organization prepared to undergo the grant submission process? Do you have your 501(c)3, your mission statement, a budget, and an active board of directors?

• Have you prepared and submitted proposals in the past?

• Do you know the requirements of the Request for Proposals (RFP)?

• Do you have access to the RFP on the web?

• What is the due date for the proposal?

• Do you have written materials available for your organization?

• If you are applying for a capital project, do you have applicable plans and specifications?

• Do you have anyone on staff who can assist you with the grant preparation?

  Is there a way to speed up the process, to receive funding quickly ?
  Researching and applying for grants is a lengthy process. The grant process is also highly competitive. There are deadlines for applications. It can take months before your proposal is reviewed and evaluated. It is best to have a long-term perspective when applying for grants.

  Can you provide me with a sample proposal ?
  There are many organizations that have provided their proposals on the web. You can find them by doing a web search. The Grantsmanship Center also sells CD-ROMS of successful grant proposals. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and confidentiality, Granted by Everhart, LLC is not able to provide sample proposals.
